You mention that one attribute of infoDNA is that it is like “Tagging without the Tags”.  Could you explain this?

We all have dealt with the limitations of Folders in our Information lives so we need not go into detail here other than to say that the main limitation is that Files or other Information Nuggets must be associated with a Single Folder even though the Information Nugget may have multiple significant meaning to us.  For example should I “File” that Contract in the “Legal”, “Contracts”, or “Client” Folder, or perhaps in the Folders associated with some of the more important clauses in the Contract.

Tagging is a concept which allows any number of Keywords to be Associated with Information Nuggets and thus, when combined with the ability to Search by Tags, makes Information seem as though it resides in Multiple Folders since it can be categorized in many ways.

infoDNA has built in Tagging capabilities since Keywords are treated as “First Class” Information on a par with Files, Web Content, Contact Records, Email, or any other type of Information.  However, more powerful than traditional Tagging is infoDNA’s ability to “Directly Associate” any Information Nugget with any other.  That is, you do not have to create a Tag and then associate both pieces of Information with the Tag, but rather you can directly Associate any number of Information Nuggets with any other Information Nugget.

infoDNA “Free Association” provides Tagging without the Tags

Folder Limitations: Information Nuggets can only be stored in a single Folder even though they appropriately might be related to several Folders.

Tagging Benefit:  You can Associate Information Nuggets with as many Tags as you deem appropriate.  Tags then act like Folders and you can now “Find” things in many possible ways.

Tagging Limitations: The Tags for Windows Files are not the same as Tags in Outlook or in your Web 2.0 Sites.  So you cannot Associate any Information Type with Tags causing duplication of effort and disconnected Data.

TaggingWithoutTheTags

infoDNA Free Association Benefits: Any Information Nugget can be Associated with as many other Information Nuggets as you deem appropriate without concern for Information Type.  Keywords can be created to provide all of the benefits of Tagging without the limitations.  Associate Information in a way closer to how you organize Information in your mind.  Your mind has no restrictions regarding Information Types.
